Bio
Chunlan Xu is a senior patent attorney who concentrates her practice on patent prosecution, opinions, licensing and counseling services ever since joining SBZL in 2010. Drawing on her pharmaceutical engineering background, Chunlan focuses on polymer chemistry, electroplating engineering, materials and new energies, and other chemical arts. Chunlan also has significant experience in patent litigation concerning a range of technologies, including, materials, energies, medical devices, and athletic apparel.
Chunlan uses her litigation experience to help clients look ahead strategically when identifying, acquiring and protecting patent assets. She conducts prior art and patentability analyses and provides freedom to operate, non-infringement and invalidity opinions. She also drafts and prosecutes patent applications in China, and partners with the firm’s foreign associates to evaluate protection and coverage options outside China. In addition, Chunlan performs patent due diligence to help clients evaluate the strength of a target company’s patent portfolio.
When not practicing law, Chunlan enjoys traveling and playing badminton. Chunlan is a former college athlete who is still actively involved in many forms of outdoor activities.
