From September 19 to 20, the 7th Patent Information Annual Conference of China, with the theme of "Patent Operation to Boost Supply-side Structural Reform," was successfully held in Beijing. Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C (SIPO) Shen Changyu and related officials attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Shen Changyu pointed out that, as intellectual property (IP) played a significant role in providing institutional and technological supplies to the supply-side structural reform, it is important that intellectual property rights (IPR) be protected, patent operation be promoted and to transform more patents into practical productive forces as to advance the innovative development of economy.
Also attending the conference were Party member of the SIPO Xiao Xingwei, Vice-governor of the people’s government of Guangdong Province Lan Foan, President of the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited Meng Fengchao and Deputy Commissioner of the SIPO He Zhimin. Lan Foan, Meng Fengchao and He Zhimin delivered keynote speeches concerning the construction of IP-competent province, protection of IPR and international cooperation of IPR against the background of supply-side structural reform.
The annual conference, which lasted for two days, attracted participants from domestic and foreign governmental organizations, famous enterprises and IP experts. More than 4000 representatives from the SIPO, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the European Patent Office (EPO), the French National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), the Japanese Patent Office (JPO), patent offices around the country, IP-related enterprises and public institutions and overseas patent information service agencies gathered at the conference to conduct in-depth discussion on the innovation of patent operation, IP and entrepreneurship, open innovation and enterprises' IP management, strengthening IPR protection and exploitation of IP big data and patent information.
Since first hosted by the Intellectual Property Publishing House Co., Ltd. in 2010, the Patent Information Annual Conference of China has been successfully held for seven years. It has become a major and influential platform for IP cooperation and communication within and outside China.
