The Beijing Intellectual Property Court has heard more than 20,000 IP cases and concluded more than 13,000 since its establishment in November 2014, according to a news conference held by the court on Tuesday. It heard 10,638 IP cases in 2016, a year-on-year increase of 15.74 percent. Compensation ruled by the court averaged 450,000 yuan ($65,015) for each case in 2015. Available statistics show patent infringement compensation averaged 1.41 million yuan last year, while trademark infringement compensation averaged 1.65 million yuan and copyright infringement compensation averaged 458,000 yuan.
